I'm always trying new materials, but have found the following excellent:
Brushes
I buy all my brushes from Rosemary and Co - they are outstanding. I tend to use filberts.

I tend to buy from Jacksons Art Supplies, they have an extensive range and are reasonably priced. I have signed up as an Affiliate with Jacksons, if you buy from them by clicking these links, I will receive a commission of 5%.

If you are a new Jackson customer and clicks through my affiliate link, you'll receive 10% off your first order. You will need to create an account with Jacksons in order to receive the discount.
Oil paint
Artists oil paints are a game changer, if you can afford them. They go a long way, as they are heavily pigmented. My first choice is Michael Harding, but W&N Artists oils and Jacksons professional oil paint is good. The earth colours are much cheaper and worth buying the better quality.
Titanium White
Michael Harding Bright Yellow Lake
Yellow Ochre
Raw Umber
Burnt Umber
Cadmium red
Alizarin crimzon
Ultramarine Blue
Cerulean blue (for landscape)
Canvas
My preference is for linen canvas as it's a joy to paint on. Alternatively mdf board and Michael Harding non absorbent acrylic primer works well.

Primer
I have tried gesso and oil primers but I now find Michael Harding's acrylic primer very simple to apply and non absorbent.
